  1. I like to use a memory tool that takes the first letter of each word to help you recall what you are memorizing.
I use this when memorizing LARGE portions, such as the Sermon on the Mount, which is three chapters long.
I would like my first card to come up as just the reference, then I could click on a "Hint" button and it would show my second card, which would be the first letter of each word.
Or if I didn't need that, I could just click on the "Show answer" button to check myself.
    Thank you so…

  2. Allow the definition of multi-choice questions which you will find very often for any kind of tests.
    Ex.
    What colour has the sun?
    a) red
    b) yellow
    c) green

  3. It would be nice to have a web site with Mnemosyne functionality.

I realize that is totally different application and could not be built around current Mnemosyne app, but anyway, I think that would be great.

  4. I would like to have the opportunity to review the cards I learned in the morning again in the evening. The simplest way to do that would be to allow a 12 hour day. That way scheduled cards come up every 12 hours instead of when a new day comes.

  5. Problem: Many ideas will never be implemented , yet they are 'mixed' with the viable ones; they 'steal' our collective time - because we can not avoid seeing them.

Sugg: they can be 'quarantined' in a folder "Rejected" .

  6. A triple (or arbitrarily many) card type where you are served the first question, click "Show answer" to display the next field (with an answer, and a follow up question), and click "Show Answer" again to display the field following THAT, until the last field is displayed and you rate your mastery as usual.

This card type, at least the basic version, should not create sister cards.

  7. As a recent user pointed out, SM-2 has been used in Mnemosyne for a while now. I'm not sure how much of the data is academically usable (read publishable) but I'd be surprised if there wasn't enough to draw at least a few conclusions. Is it time to upgrade to a more recent algorithm that more accurately predicts the time interval between repetitions?

Personally, what initially drew me away from SM and toward Mnemosyne was the user interface. At this point, I've become quite comfortable with the concept of creating and reviewing cards. As a result, SM's algorithm is starting…

  9. It would be better if you could grade the importance of a card :
For example : 0 for less important cards, 1 for "normal" cards and 2 for the most important cards.

This way, the cards that would come the more often woud be at the same time the cards you know the less and the most important ones.
This means you learn better the important parts of your lesson.

  11. Working with flashcards featuring a lot of pictures, it would be nice to have an option for turning on an immediate preview of images while the user is still in the "edit card" tab.So no need for pressing "preview" as in preview mode of course you cannot work on the possible text you want to wrtie below your images.

  12. Copy&paste from existing cards would be very helpful, as new cards are often similar to existing ones.
Also while entering cards to doublecheck in cardbrowser, if card already exists would be helpful.
Both would be possible if card could be created while card browser is open. Would avoid to open/close cardbrowser many times when entering cards...

  13. In "Browse cards" view, in the lower left pane where it says "having any of these tags:" it already shows the count of how many cards have that tag. It would be great to have a % right next to it, either % of active cards or % of total cards. Should be easy to add.

  15. My number of cards per day can sometimes vary a lot (say, from the 40s to the 80s). It would be nice to have Mnemosyne, on request, adjust some cards' schedules so that the upcoming schedule is more smoothed out. I assume that it would start with the best-known cards since those are the ones who would be least affected by moving the next repetition by a day or two.

Similarly, if I know that there is a day in the future that I won't be able to study, it would be nice to be able to mark it as…

  16. Its very motivating to see how your knowledge has increased over time. It would be nice to have a bar graph that shows, over the last month/year/etc., how many cards were "in the user's memory" at that time. The criterion could just be that the card existed at that time, or was at a certain score, or was up to a certain number of days between repetitions. In the simplest case (just seeing if the card existed), it would basically be the integral of the "cards added over time" graph. It would be great to see some graph that showed…

  17. Would be nice to be able to reduce the grade your answer selections. I use this for my 6 year old and 6 choices are too many. 0=mised it, 1= kinda got it after thinking for a while, 2= know it.
Being able to reduce the number of grades (which should be configurable) would be great!

  19. introduce two modes.
    1. Exam mode - unlimited number of reviews at a session.
    2. Normal mode - limited number of reviews at per session (5)

The normal mode would increase usage of the software by making studying easier - only a few things to learn at a time.

Not only that, this normal mode should be made up of at least 30% of familiar cards. This re-enforces old ideas and sandwiches new cards to make learning less difficult.

Different UI components can be turned off, so as to focus only on the things you find important
