I agree this would be nice to have, but seriously it is not a big deal at all to click a few times. There are other suggestions on this forum that could potentially be much more useful than this, so let's work on those first, unless it is just so easy to add this feature that someone could do it in 10 minutes or less.

I like your idea of flexible customization, but it seems complicated to implement. Instead I recommend If you are studying for a test and you want to study just those items, do this: either create a new database with just those cards, or: go to browse mode, select just the tags for the cards you want to study, then open one up and use page up/page down to move between them.

If you are really serious about learning some specific body of knowledge quickly, Mnemosyne scheduling is not the way to solve it. It mixes in all your other cards, and furthermore, no matter how good the scheduling algorithm, it is telling you what to study and you are passively hoping the material is relevant. To do well on your test, you should take charge and decide what to study on your own terms. I would suggest reviewing all of your relevant cards every day or multiple times per day, don't just ask Mnemosyne to schedule some of them and hope it prepares you adequately; instead, review everything daily, and make sure you know 100% of the material by test day.

Sorry to double post, but I realized that I unintentionally sounded rude in my last post. i just mean that since the user ultimately grades his or her own grasp of the material, there is no reason to have Mnemosyne tell you whether or not you know the material. You should have designed your cards well in the first place so that it is very clear if you are right or wrong. If the spelling of the answer is important to you, then obviously you should be able to spell it correctly, and if spelling is not important to you, then I don't see any reason why Mnemosyne should tell you whether or not you spelled it properly.

No offense, this is kinda dumb. It defeats the whole purpose of the software, which is that the user decides how well they know the material. You shouldn't need the software to tell you if you are right or wrong, you should look at the card, think of the response, and then check the answer. If the answer is not exactly what you thought, or you spelled it incorrectly, then you were wrong. Plain and simple. And if you aren't so particular that you care about memorizing the spelling of words or phrases on your answer card, then why do you need the software to spell check your answer for you?

I agree that it is interesting to see how much time is spent on a card. But that feature ALREADY exists.

Planning to study for a certain time defeats the purpose of the software, which is that your practice cards need to be repeated at certain intervals. Naturally this means that some days you just need to spend more time than others in order to review the cards that you yourself want In other words, time is not the best variable to follow for your study pattern, rather number of cards is. This is how Mnemosyne is already set up. Not just with Mnemosyne, but with life in general, it is better to have task oriented goals rather than time oriented goals. If you are studying for a test, you should study each chapter fully until you know 100% of the material and are prepared for the test; you shouldn't just look at your book for an hour a day and hope that after 7 hours in a week that is enough studying. It needs to be task directed.
