Use "All supported sound files" rather than listing just a few at the Insert Sound window.
mplayer can handle more types of files - flv and mpeg, for example - than show up when you are searching a list of audio files. Having to type in . or *.mpeg (or whatever it was a few days ago) to activate the list or try to remember how the filename started is a nuisance.
Mplayer is only used as a temporary solution under Windows, where a Qt bug prevents the use of the html5 sound tag, which gives you e.g. a player widget with pause buttons, etc, …
So, as soon as Qt on Windows is fixed, mplayer is going away.
