I'm afraid there is currently a serious performance penalty for doing this, as this is not the way it's built in the sqlite library...

This happens already now for small databases, but for large databases the GUI toolkit we use seems to have performance issues, so this was disabled...

Perhaps in a future version of the toolkit they will address this.

Note that the definition of grading a card 2 or higher is that you think you will remember it the next day. If it turns out you forgot these over a span of a few minutes, you probably graded it 2 too soon :-)

Also note the importance of sleep in memory consolidation, which is the main reason behind SM2's focus on daily scheduling.

You could be right. Anyway, I'll put this on my TODO list to investigate further, but not at the very top :-)

The only thing which I think could cause this difference is that you've set a different font for that field in the different card types you use.

    Is that the case?

OK, so it has nothing to do with 'increase size of ...' then.

Are you saying it works with Vocabulary card types, but not e.g. with Front-to-back only card types?

I'm still trying to understand your request. Screenshots might help.

If you put 'increase size of non-latin characters' to zero, do you get what you want?

This is handled directly by the UI toolkit we use, so I don't have too much control over this (it works on some systems, but not others).

You can always mail a screenshot to the mailing list if you want help.

Could you be a bit more concrete what exactly you mean? You can perfectly import e.g. a '*.cards' file which is located on a USB file.

Also, there instructions on running Mnemosyne complelety from a USB drive.

The sorting is handled directly by the Qt library for efficiency reasons, so if we were to implement a custom sort in Mnemosyne itself, it would slow things down enormously...

Just to make sure there are no false expectations: just like for the iPhone, I don't have a Windows Phone, and I have no intention of acquiring one. Therefore, if this is ever going to happen, somebody else needs to do this I'm afraid.

You can still review using the webbrower on any device, though.

I don't think this is a good idea: all the research shows that sleep is very important in forming memories, which is why each new day starts in the morning.

Use 2.3.1, go to settings, and activate the web browser there.

As I stated in the other threads, I'm quite sure this is an excellent idea idea, but I have neither the hardware nor the time to implement this, no matter how many votes this gets. So, somebody else has to implement this.

If you want to review on your iDevice, you'll have to use your webbrowser and Mnemosyne's built in webserver.

Not sure I understand exactly what you mean, but using 'activate cards', you can always choose a subset of cards to study.

BTW, simply defining different cards with different questions and the same answer should already now go a long way towards getting the functionality you want.

The problem is that the mac packagers only have access to a 64bit machine, and apparently it's not so trivial to create 32bit installers on 64bit macs

(I personally don't have access to a mac myself)

I personally don't think this is a good idea, because if you go for computer-generated sentences, you'll bound to end up sooner or later with sentences that look very funny to a native speaker.

I think it's much better to use original, native sentences in conjunction with Mnemosyne's existing Sentence card type.

BTW, you can use PgUp and PgDown to scroll the image. The other directions turn out to be a bit complicated due to some toolkit issues.

Note that Mnemosyne does not do anything special to the image size, it just uses the original image size. You can resize images using html code with the arguments 'widths' and 'height'

The status bar would then just always show the same number XX, as once you indicate that you've learned a card, a new one will be added to your hand to keep the number at XX.

If want you want is e.g. getting information once you've studied X new cards each day, then vote for the 'goals' plugin.

Not sure if it's exactly the same of what you want, but take a look at the option 'hold xx non-memorised cards in your hand', which will make sure you never try to memorise more than xx cards at the same time.

You can also activate a small subset of your cards in 'activate cards' if you want to focus on only a number of cards.

Note that there's also the cramming scheduler which allows you to review cards as you like.

Starting 2.1, if you want to reset cards, a workaround is to export them to a '*.cards' file, delete them, and then reimport them.
