Allow launching apps / batch files / or scripts as part of answer
This is a bit for the geeky type who knows how to write batch files or scripts. Let's face the program is rather limited of what you can add to a database. I would like to have the ability to execute a command upon showing an answer, for example this way the answer could be a power point presentation or a PDF file. All I need in this case is to have mnemosyne run a batch file that launches the application under question. This way it can be much more flexible in what it can do. Definitely the application should have the ability of passing some argument to the script like the card number or the question itself

This version of Custom tag plugin behaves differently from the previous one... --> see comment: http://mnemosyne-proj.org/plugins/custom-tag

Javascript can't launch apps or batch files.
There is a plugin called 'Custom tag' for Mnemosyne 1.x , which I use a lot. It can launch apps, but unfortunately it doesn't work in Mnemosyne 2.x -
The field containing the question and the answer is a full html browser, so you can add javascript just like you would do on a webpage.

Is that documented somewhere?

Note that putting javascript on cards is fully supported.
