To give an example, as an ex-nursing student interested in medicine i have made a couple of cards with specific pathologies and how to manage them (medications, prevention, referral to specialists, etc.). I recently noticed that one of those cards is scheduled in 2.6 years. While a part of its answer will remain true, it is very likely that much of the rest will have changed with new guidelines and studies in less than that amount of time. A set maximum review interval would allow me to notice my card source date and modify it accordingly while updating my practice/knowledge.
