Activate sister cards manually
Example: When learning a language the passive understanding of the new language is easier than actively recalling words and phrases in the new language. When learning German i prefer to train "der Junge"? = "the boy" for a while before training "the boy"? = "der Junge".
So: When editing a "Front to back" card it would be super to have an indication "This card has no sister" and the option "please create the 'Back to front' version of this card".
(Using this functionality a lot of the "sister-cards on same day" discussion would fade...)

When I create a Front-to-back card to learn words, I add a tag 'sss' {it tells me that there is no provision made to display a Sister card }.
When the card scheduled and I grade it 4-5, I may switch to FB-BF type and remove the tag 'sss'; or wait one more round .
---- PS. You can see the tag 'sss' on the Review screen - it is your 'indication'. I'm so glad that Tags show up there; it allows me to display useful info about each card. -

When learning you could just activate the Front-To-Back cards only. After learning those, you could then also select Back-to-Front cards as well.

Not a big burden:
1) it would be super to have an indication "This card has no sister"
2) Mnemosyne already rejects duplicates :-) -
In essence, what you're proposing is an option to activate sister cards manually, as opposed to the current situation where the sister card automatically gets introduced in the queue tomorrow.
I personally think that would place a heavy burden on the user, since he would have to remember to manually introduce each sister card. It would also complicate the UI...
