  1. (By "normal mode", I refer to the normal Mnemosyne learning screen.)

In normal mode, the separation line is nicely automatically moved if the back side of a card has a lot of text and the front side is just a word. However, in Editor, the sizes of front and back side are fixed. One cannot manually move the separator. The separator should be narrower and movable. This would make editing much easier.

  2. Add a button in the mobile app to import cards from the net. By this way we can also download content from the web and not only sync with our computer. It means that Mnemosyne becomes more an adaptation of the computer's app for mobile, not just a complementary app.

  3. For example:

Dutch is my mother tongue and I would like to learn English and French at the same time. I would have a vocabulary deck Dutch-English and Dutch-French.
If I would enter the word 'chair' in these decks, I would have two cards in two different decks: 'stoel-chair' and 'stoel-chaise' respectively.

But instead of learning only with my mother tongue as the base, I would like to learn these languages interchangeably (NL-FR, NL-EN and EN-FR).

In order to not have to add a third deck English-French with the card 'chair-chaise', it would be very convenient when Mnemosyne would recognise…

  4. I do not understand a word. I search the word in a dictionary and before I add it to my mnemosyne cards, I realize it is already in the database, but schedules next year.

I want a possibility to flag this card as "unlearned" and start relearning now instead of next year, when the card was scheduled.

  5. Now because of absence of spell check I have to create cards in other place and after move them to Mnemosyne. It will be nice if we have spell check support in "add cards" dialog. Also spell check should have option to turn on or off in settings window.

  8. As a Mnemosyne beginner, I find the tooltips in the desktop client very helpful. I suggest the same tooltips are added to the Android client on long pressing each grading digit.

For clarity, the tooltips I'm talking about are:
"You don't remember this card yet."
"Like '0', but it's getting more familiar. Show it less often."
    ...
"You've memorized this card now, and should remember it in 2 days."

  10. For example http://mnemosyne-proj.org/card-sets/geography currently has "Test fsafda" as first set of cards. Anki website has it done better (though their sorting considers only average rating and ignores how many people voted).

  11. Copy&paste from existing cards would be very helpful, as new cards are often similar to existing ones.
Also while entering cards to doublecheck in cardbrowser, if card already exists would be helpful.
Both would be possible if card could be created while card browser is open. Would avoid to open/close cardbrowser many times when entering cards...

  12. As a fan of SuperMemo, I've grown to adore incremental reading and the ability to schedule articles to read in advance. (I actually do it to read a very tiny portion of a textbook each day.) I'd love to see something like this get implemented in Mnemosyne.

Although I'm a relatively new programmer, I'd be willing to contribute as well, if you want to send me an email with any tips or anything.

  13. I would like to have the opportunity to review the cards I learned in the morning again in the evening. The simplest way to do that would be to allow a 12 hour day. That way scheduled cards come up every 12 hours instead of when a new day comes.

  14. (note - have not used this software yet so dont know what IS tracked)

Since you are already collecting long term data on the nature of memory, it would seem relatively easy to add some additional information to see what things improve/impair memory. Herbs, supplements, amino acids, transcranial magnetic stimulation. If people clearly try it (ie six weeks on, six weeks off) anything that actually works should show clear statistical differences and give ideas for further, specific studies, based on widespread anecdotal tracking. Likewise long term effects could also show - does the effect reduce with long term use, show…

  16. It would be better if you could grade the importance of a card :
For example : 0 for less important cards, 1 for "normal" cards and 2 for the most important cards.

This way, the cards that would come the more often woud be at the same time the cards you know the less and the most important ones.
This means you learn better the important parts of your lesson.

  17. Right now, only one image can be inserted into a card at a time. It would be helpful to be able to select multiple images and add them at the same time.

In my case, I am using text and images to learn foreign vocabulary. For the concepts that are not so straightforward, I often need more than one picture to convey the meaning. For example, the idea of "assets" can be natural scoring ability or it can cover IT assets. Right now, I am saving the pictures and numbering the variations (e.g. asset 1, asset 2, etc.).

    With a…

  19. This would help the user to see, at a glance, which sets should be prioritised. At the moment, seeing how many cards are pending for each set is only possible by activating that set and inspecting the lower-right status bar.

  20. I customized <all card types> with an off-white background (to be easier to read), then customized a total of seven cloned card types.

The problem is that any subsequent change to the appearance of <all card types> will override the customized appearance of the seven card types -- an "all or nothing" condition.

We need an option to "lock" the appearance of customized card types so that changing the appearance of <all card types> will not wipe out all other customizations. This might be accomplished by adding a "protect customization" check box to the Card Appearance settings.
